IRRADIATION EXPERT (F/M/D)

Your mission

We are seeking a highly skilled Irradiation Expert to join our innovative R&D team. This role focuses on photon/electron irradiation processes for advanced battery development, particularly within the scope of lithium-sulfur batteries. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in irradiation-induced chemical interactions, with expertise in processes such as polymerization and/or the aging mechanisms of lithium-ion and lithium-metal batteries. As part of our dynamic team, you will play a critical role in advancing theion’s cutting-edge lithium-sulfur battery technology, contributing to research, design, scalability, and commercialization efforts.


YOUR TASK
  • Conduct research projects on irradiation-induced polymerization, electrolyte aging, and interfacial interactions in lithium-sulfur batteries.
  • Design, implement, and optimize protocols for irradiation-induced processes, analyzing material responses, with a focus on applications in lithium-metal and lithium-sulfur battery technologies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including materials scientists, chemists, electrochemists, and engineers to accelerate the development of theion’s lithium-sulfur battery technology.
  • Document project progress, challenges, and outcomes through detailed technical reports and effective presentations for diverse audiences.
  • Stay up to date with respect to industry trends and advancements in polymer chemistry, analytical chemistry, and energy storage systems to inform and enhance R&D efforts.
  • Contribute to intellectual property (IP) development, generating innovative ideas within the field of expertise.
  • Support the scaling and commercialization of theion’s proprietary photon-induced sulfur/chalcogenide pre-expansion technology in collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Your profile
  • Ph.D. in chemistry, polymer chemistry, analytical chemistry, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience working with photon/electron/gamma radiation.
  • Deep understanding of photon/electron/gamma irradiation-triggered chemical reactions within organic systems, preferably polymers and organic electrolytes.
  • Hands-on experience in material synthesis, characterization, electrochemical testing, and battery performance evaluation.
  • Proficiency in characterization techniques such as Raman spectroscopy, XPS, TGA/DSC and more.
  • Strong publication record in peer-reviewed journals and/or patents showcasing relevant expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and collaborative team environment.
